There were more than 100,000 sexual assaults across the UK in the last year according to official statistics on criminal offences.

A group of MPs have stated that those arrested for sexual offences have the right to remain anonymous until they are charged. 

The group who were reviewing previous examples of high profile individuals accused stated that there should be a no tolerance policy on police officers leaking information. 

There has been an increase in the number of sexual crimes, including rape, reported to the police, according to a recent report from Police Scotland.

The Justice Committee has recently published a call for evidence, seeking views on Scottish Government proposals to end automatic early release for some categories of prisoner.
