New statistics from Scotland’s Chief Statistician have revealed that reconviction rates for offenders in Scotland are at the lowest levels for eighteen years. 

Fewer criminals will have to inform potential employers about their criminal past under new measures set to be introduced by Scottish ministers to help them in their rehabilitation. 

The Government’s latest analysis of reconviction rates has revealed a drop in the number of people being reconvicted within one year of their being released from custody or given a non-custodial sentence.
